Booklist Review
*Starred Review* It starts out like so many other love stories. Soldier meets girl. Soldier marries girl. Soldier goes off to war. Except this is no ordinary couple. Corina Del Rey is an American heiress, and Stephen Stratton is the Prince of Brighton, serving in the Royal Air Command. Afghanistan takes its toll: Corina's twin brother is killed, and Stephen is wounded both physically and emotionally. Corina's overwhelming grief is compounded when she is notified that Stephen has annulled their marriage. Five and a half years later, Stephen discovers that the archbishop never filed the annulment papers; he is still married to Corina. His brother, King Nathaniel, orders him to deliver this news to Corina in person, and she is as shocked as Stephen. But Corina wants to know exactly how her brother died, and she is not signing the papers until Stephen breaks national security and tells her. Hauck has written a sensitive, emotion-filled story about the effects of war on a relationship. Her characters are flawed and realistic. This engaging, faith-based book is part of the Royal Wedding Series (Once upon a Prince, 2013; Princess Ever After, 2014) and will appeal to Debbie Macomber fans.--Mosley, Shelley Copyright 2015 Booklist
Library Journal Review
Starred Review. Corina Del Rey, heiress to a vast fortune, and her beau, rugby superstar Prince Stephen of Brighton, seemed destined to be together forever. But then the war in Afghanistan kills Corina's brother and robs Stephen of any sense of security he had about where his life was going. After five years of living in emotional darkness and turmoil, wrestling with the hidden knowledge that she and Stephen share, Corina returns to her career as a journalist. Meanwhile, King Nathaniel decides it is time to end his brother's suffering and confronts Stephen with evidence of the secret Stephen and Corina have tried so desperately to suppress. Now the couple must decide whether to move forward together. Their choice will test their faith in God and their love. VERDICT Perfect for Valentine's Day, Hauck's (Princess Ever After) latest inspirational romance offers an uplifting and emotionally rewarding tale that will delight her growing fan base.
